Looking for some last minute Fourth of July themed snacks that you can make with your kids? We’ve got you covered! Here are three snacks and a festive drink to help you get the party started.
Patriotic Pizza: This fruit pizza has all the ingredients for a perfectly balanced snack. You can start with any cracker, but I like the Town House Pita ones because they look like slices of pizza! Take the cracker and have your little one spread whipped cream cheese on top. Then add a few small slices of strawberry, a blueberry and sprinkles. What a delicious and festive treat!
Materials:
Whipped Cream Cheese
Town House Pita Sea Salt Crackers (pizza slice shaped)
Blueberries
Strawberries
Red, white and blue sprinkles
Patriotic Popcorn: Every time I make this popcorn kids AND adults can’t get enough. And it looks pretty as a centerpiece too! You can switch out some of the ingredients to make it a perfect treat for your family, but I recommend using my 5 Ingredient Formula, which includes a snack, protein, fruit, cereal and sweet. Start by selecting one ingredient from the first four categories and place one cup of each ingredient into a large bowl. Add ¼ cup from the sweets category and stir.
Materials:
Sun-Maid Zante Currants (they look like chocolate chips but are an amazing fruit)
Red and blue M&M’s
Popcorn
Pretzel sticks
Cashews
Simply Truth Organic Toasted Oats Cereal
Red, white and blue sprinkles
Patriotic Pineapple: This is my go-to snack for keeping kids cool in the summer. All you have to do is take some canned pineapple and place a lollipop stick through both sides of the circle. It’s easier said than done, so go slowly. Then have your kids sprinkle them with coconut flakes and sprinkles. Freeze for 30 minutes and serve immediately. It’s that easy!
Materials:
Lollipop sticks
Canned pineapple
Coconut flakes
Red, white and blue sprinkles
Patriotic Punch: This punch is perfect for the hot weather in July! To make this punch, just take an ice cube tray and fill each small section with coconut water and one or two blueberries. I let this freeze in the freezer while I am making the rest of the patriotic snacks. Then, I measure my punch to be half coconut water and half lemonade (some kids prefer a little more lemonade than coconut water). Next, I cut the top and bottom of some Red Vines Licorice sticks so that the kids can use them as a fun straw! The licorice not only adds a red festive color to the drink, it also enhances the flavor to have a slight strawberry taste. Add the blueberry ice cubes and serve. Ta-da!
Materials:
Coconut water
Lemonade
Blueberries
Red Vines Licorice
You can keep your toddler engaged this holiday and all summer long with these quick summer snacks. Simply change up the names from ‘Patriotic Pizza’ to ‘Summer Pizza’ and switch out the sprinkles for a summer-themed look.
